I think Isaiah is one of my favourite books of the Old Testament. It's almost like a fifth Gospel. It contains so much of what we understand about Jesus, his life, the reason for his coming. Isaiah was preparing us for his coming long before John the Baptist was even born.
Promise of Good News.
For to us a child shall be born,
coming from the Lord.

Blessed to have stopped by! Thanks, andrea
ReplyDeleteIt is also one of my favorites for the very same reasons.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love Isaiah too. Rich, rich, rich from start to finish. *sigh* When I think of one day standing before the Lord, I think Isaiah 6:1-8 and the words "Send me!" When I'm hurting, I think Isaiah 26:3-4. When I've been humbled, I think Isaiah 66:1-2.
ReplyDeleteA visit here is ALWAYS worth the time.
Ohhhhhhh, one of my favorite Books of the Bible! LOVE it! In fact, one of my sons is turning 16 this weekend and his present from me is a tattoo.....he's getting Isaiah 53:5 on his forearm.
ReplyDeleteoh, and I have a little blurby aboutcha today at my place! ;)
Thanks for the blurby Michelle.
ReplyDeleteYou're giving your son a tattoo for his 16th? Awesome! All I got was socks I think.
I don't know why, but I always like to imagine Jesus spending hours poring over Isaiah, seeking God's message for him. I read somewhere an article about the value of the Old Testament, and the writer said something to the effect of Jesus using Psalms as his song book, and Isaiah as his service book. I think that's beautiful.

ReplyDeleteOh that *is* beautiful......
yes, I am giving him a tattoo......well not literally because he wouldn't want a stick figure as that is the extent of my artistic ability. But I am paying for it. ;)
The deal is, I have to approve of it.
and ".....and by His stripes, we are healed" gets two big thumbs up from me.
I'll be sure to post pics.
