Please pray

I am usually posting silly or funny posts. Even when I try to be serious, it just slips out. So I need to warn you that if you are only here for the jokes, you should skip this post and go look for something lighter.
I have some friends who go to my church who have just had shocking news. Yesterday morning their 5 year old son, Harry, was diagnosed with a massive growth pressing on his optic nerve. They took him into theatre last night, and had him under for most of the night. They discovered that not only was the tumour malignant, but it was even more massive than they had first thought. They removed most of the hard tumour, but have not come close to removing all that is needed. Apparently there is more than just the one growth, and it is too widespread to get it all.
Now today we hear from the experts that radiation and chemotherapy are not options. So we are not sure whether they are going to have to go back in to try and remove more of the growth, or if they are going to leave it like that.
Little Harry is one of the cutest and sweetest little boys you could ever hope to meet, and this is just killing everyone who knows him. He is being so brave.
If you can spare a moment, please pray for him; but also for his parents who are taking immense strain as well. They really need to be lifted up.
Thank you.

  1. I will pray for little Harry, his parents, the doctors, and all of you in his church family. God is the great physician.

  3. Hi Michael,

My mom phoned last night to ask me to pray for Harry and his parents. How tragic.

I was reading through the words of Paul to the Corinthians in his second epistle to them chapter 1 verses 3 – 5, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.”

  4. Just an update. Harry is apparently stable (whatever that means) and there are no 'blockages' visible on the scan. I am assuming this means that what they have had to leave behind is not constricting any of the nerves, but I am not sure. Whatever, it sounds extremely positive. Please continue to pray.

They have definitely ruled out chemo, saying it will do more harm than good, but they are looking at radiation in about two weeks if the swelling goes down. Again, I don't understand this, but it sounds so much more positive than what we had yesterday.

    Thank you for your prayer.

  5. Thank you everyone for your porayers. Harry had an MRI yesterday, and they are VERY pleased with what they see. Apparently the cancer is of a 'non-spreading' variety, and they have high hopes that they can get rid of the rest with raditation. (Which the experts ruled out last week.)

He has been moved from ICU to paediatric unit last night, so everyone is thrilled.

Still a long way to go, and much prayer needed, but GOD is Good!!!
